Agni Vasa Importance: Homam and Havans should perform when Agni resides on the earth i.e. Prithvi. Agni stays on the Prithvi or the Space (Akasha) or the Patala on a given day. When Agni resides on the earth, that day will be considered an ideal day to perform Homam and Havana. However, this does not apply to the regular festivals which occur in the Hindu calendar year.

Agnivasa As per the North Indian and South Indian Calendar listed below. The difference is only in the Lunar month. Rest all remain the same including Day and Date. South Indian Hindu Calendar follows the Amanta system. That is Lunar month starts with Shukla Paksha. North Indian Hindu Calendar follows the Purnimanta system. That is Lunar month starts from Krishna paksha.
