Normally Sun remains in Virgo or Libra during 16th September to 15th November. During this period Pitars are allowed to freely come to the earth. Hence doing Tripindi during this period is more beneficial. In case of more problems, Tripindi should be done as per the guidelines given in the book of “Goda Vivekdarsha”.

In the Hindu religion, it is the ritual that one performs to pay homage to one’s ‘ancestors’especially to one’s dead parents. Conceptually, it is a way for people to express heartfelt gratitude and thanks towards their parents and ancestors, for having helped them to be what they are and praying for their peace. It also can be thought of as a “day of remembrance.” It is performed for both the father and mother separately, on the days they became deceased.

Why Shraddha is done?
According to Garuda Purana, after thirteen days of the death soul starts its journey for Yamapuri and it takes seventeen days to reach there.
The soul travels through Yamapuri for another eleven months and only in twelfth month it reaches to the court of Yamaraj. During the period of eleven months it has no access to the food and the water. It is believed that Pindadan and Tarpan done by the son and family members satisfy the hunger and the thirst of the soul during its journey till it reaches the court of the Yamaraj.
