Pitru Paksha Shraddha 2024: Pitru paksha homage to ancestors through food and water offerings in the form of Pind Pradhan and tarpan. The duration of the Pitru paksha is 16 lunar days in the lunar month of Bhadrapada /Ashwin as per the Hindu calendar. People from the south and west of India follow this in the lunar month of Bhadrapada and people from the north follow this in the month of Ashwin. It begins with the full moon day or a day after the full moon day and ends on Mahalyaya Amavasya. Pitru paksha Shraddha has different names depending upon the region and language.

2nd October 2024 which falls on Wednesday is the Mahalaya Amavasya or Sarva Pitru Pind Pradhan day.

Importance of Pitru Paksha:

According to Hindu scriptures, there are three debts. They are Dev, Rishi, and Pitru debts. People offer food and water to fulfill their ancestors who are invited to the earth’s planet during Pitru paksha. As a tribute and tradition, people perform Pitru Karya in Pitru paksha and are followed by Devata Karyas after Pitru paksha. When we follow this order one will get good results from Devata pujas. Pitrus bestow Santana, Santrupti (happiness), and Sampath (wealth). So this afterlife ritual is very important.
This Pitru paksha shraddha is also known by different names depending upon the region and language.
Peddala Amavasya, Pitri Pokkho, Sola Shraddh, Kanagat, Jitiya, Mahalaya Paksha., Apara Paksha, Pitri paksha etc.

All pujas will be performed as per Vedic standards. Narayan Bali puja performed as a pitra dosh puja or pitra kalayan puja.
Tripindi Shraddha is performed to please our ancestors in terms of Anna Lobha, Vastra Lobha, and Dravya Lobha.

Note: For online puja, a video of 10-15 minutes will be sent by mail/whats app. Ideally, puja duration will vary from 60 to 120+ minutes depending upon the type of puja. All pujas are individual pujas, no common pujas which are in practice in other places.

Those who visit Gokarna should make payment of the balance amount on arrival. 
Those who perform without their presence should transfer money 72 hours before the puja day.
